February

Here we are already one month into the New Year, and one month into the official launch of our business. I am so grateful and so humbled by the incredible response we have received, and I am so thrilled to get to do what I love full time. There is always risk associated with officially starting and putting your all into a business, but this risk feels so, so right. I am incredibly appreciative of the clients that have put their trust in us for events past, and I am so excited to get to work on what we have booked so far for 2025 and 2026. I’ve been a lover of the theater since I was little, and there is something so reminiscent of that magic in the event space. Getting to work on and execute a vision from the conceptualization to the main event is so joyful, and so fulfilling.

January was busy- lots of meeting with booked and potential clients, working with local professionals, and building on new and existing relationships. The hardest part of this venture so far has been knowing when to close the laptop and allow for some work/life balance, but if I’m being honest that’s never been a strong suit of mine. Luckily a little bit of travel forced me away from the desk for a week, and I got to visit Ireland for the first time. I was born one day before my mom’s January birthday (talk about a theater kid stealing the spotlight) and we decided to head overseas this year to celebrate together. She is almost 100% Irish and it was pretty special to learn about and lean into our heritage a bit. My favorite part of traveling is always the interaction with people, and events and gathering are two of the most fundamental parts of Irish culture. We visited Ennis and Killarney incase you are looking for some travel inspiration.

Our February will be all about health, wellness, and focus. Our calendar is pretty filled with meetings and work, but we are hoping to sneak in lots of dog walks, good books, and dinner dates too. We like to do some kind of a healthy reset after the holiday and birthday months, so we were thinking if the Sweet Life Cafe holds another mocktail party, that might have to be our dinner date plan. We are holding on to the calm this time of year brings to Martha’s Vineyard because it always feels like we blink and the busy season is back.

The beginning of the year also brought devastation to our community, and to my MVRHS class. The sudden and tragic loss of Michael Araujo struck the island a few weeks ago, and it was an incredibly painful reminder of how fragile life is. Please consider clicking this link and donating to his family with two children and one on the way, who have been dealing with the unimaginable. Our thoughts and hearts have been with them every day. Hold the people you love close, and find gratitude in every moment.

Until next time,
